Homeless Count 2013
Dates: 1/24/2013 - 1/24/2013
Volunteers are needed for the Sacramento Homeless Street Count event on January 24, 2013. There will be 50+ map areas throughout Sacramento County that need to be addressed. Volunteers will be placed into teams with other community volunteers and the assistance of local law enforcement. Each team will be assigned to a designated map area to survey the number of homeless individuals in that specific area.
Be a part of this exciting and critical event! The Homeless Street Count helps us better understand and serve our homeless population! Information collected from the night of the count is used to learn about the size of the homeless population, refine existing programs to better engage and serve this population, develop new programs where gaps exist, and make policy decisions on homeless issues in Sacramento. The Event also provides funding for vital services, including federal funding for emergency shelter operations and transitional and permanent supportive housing projects.
We are currently recruiting approximately 300 Count Volunteers who will attend mandatory training and assist on count night. Volunteers who do not attend training cannot participate the night of the event. Additional roles are available to support event logistics, including pre-event phone tree assistance and registration/staging support on the night of the count. All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Please see individual opportunities to learn about each role and register as a volunteer.
Give. Advocate. Be our Volunteer!
